The Layered Planar Structure of Barium 1,3-Dithiepan-2-ylidenemalonate

Abstract

Barium 1,3-dithiepan-2-ylidenemalonate has been prepared and structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography. The compound is a two-dimensional infinite structure obtained via intermetallic coordination of the carboxylate groups, where the organic group of the seven-membered dithioether ring is arranged on both faces of the barium−oxygen plate.
