Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to present a case of pericardial diverticulum with the unique complication of pulmonary obstruction. Reports of pericardial diverticula have appeared from time to time in the literature. A large radiological series is available, but extremely few cases have been proved at operation. Brown and Dunn<sup>3</sup>reporting in 1951 were able to include with their own case only 6 others from the extant literature<sup>2,8,14,16,20</sup>accepting as true or congenital diverticula only those in whose walls both pericardial layers were represented and for which no other probable etiologic factor was demonstrated. Since that date 5 cases have been added, 2 by Fleishaker et al.<sup>5</sup>in 1958, 2 by Maier<sup>12</sup>in 1957, and 1 by Bishop et al.<sup>1</sup>in 1950. <h3>Report of Case</h3> A 10-year-old white boy reported to the Out-Patient Department of the Man Memorial Hospital with complaints of recurrent upper
