Many factors contribute to the interest in climatic physiology of cattle. They include development of revolutionary transportation methods enabling selection and breeding of cattle on a global scale in different climates; demands for cattle-shelter specifications for w i d e l y d i f f e r i n g c l imates; diplomatic and humanitarian desire to improve the nutritional condition of the undernourished millions. Milk is the least expensive d i e t a r y s u p p l e m e n t (rich in limiting amino acids, ealciunl, and vitamin B~:) to the unbalanced diet of malnourished peoples who live mostly on d i e t a r y -i ncomplete foods of plant
