Cloud computing services are heavily network driven. The continuous and rapid growth of data in external private clouds accelerates downstream network-bandwidth saturation and public cloud data-out overspends. The consumer-initiated replication of cloud data to consumer locality is a solution and known as client-side cloud caching. This paper presents the core mechanism of the cloud caching, called Cloud cache eviction strategy, along with its new performance results based on longer traces. Simulations showed that 1) Cloud outperformed three well-known web cache eviction strategies across all standard performance metrics for almost all test cases, 2) even Cloud's performance minima overcame the other strategies in several cases, and importantly 3) Cloud could attain optimal hit and byte-hit ratios without sacrificing one to the other.
