Abstract

ExcerptThe production of persistent hypertension in dogs and monkeys has been reported in previous communications.1-4This was accomplished by constricting the main renal arteries by means of a special silver clamp devised for the purpose. In some of the dogs hypertension of severe degree has now existed for more than five years. The type of hypertension produced by this method depends upon the degree of constriction of the renal arteries.
