Summary Electrophoresis on “Cellogel” strips shows that during metamorphosis a complete change occurs in the haemoglobins of all three Australian species of lampreys. The haemoglobin electrophoretic patterns of the two closely related species, Mordacia mordax and Mordacia praecox , are identical. These patterns differ markedly from those found in Geotria australis , suggesting that Mordacia and Geotria are not closely related.
