Synthesis of 3-(1,1-ethylenedioxyoctyl)-cyclopentanone

Abstract

1,4-Cyclohexanedione has been converted into compounds 8 and 9. Treatment of 8 and 9 with base produces compound 10, which has been converted into 3-(1,1-ethylenedioxyoctyl)-cyclopentanone.
