Abstract

The Article explores ways of behaving more effectively and enjoyably at work. These ways centre on demonstrations in practice of a spiritual perspective, using short pauses in normal work routines. What that means, how it works and simple first steps will be suggested, starting with an ecological overview. A tropical rain forest is seen superficially from an aircraft, while little can be seen from within. An ecological view integrates numerous observations from many different approaches, so that patterns of relationships are revealed. Particular observations now carry more meaning. We become more confident and can find joy in living safely within the forest. We can experiment and live more adventurously, and so learn how to behave more suitably. It all goes better, and not only for ourselves. Similarly, our social ecosystem of people, small groups, networks and so on needs to be studied, using different approaches-embracing what is physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. What that last word means for me can be indicated best by jottings, rather than by attempting a definition.
