The authors present IRAS observations of the 60 and 100 μm Galactic plane emission, from which the contribution of the zodiacal light has been subtracted. Assuming an isothermal dust distribution along each line of sight in the Galactic plane, the authors derive temperature, optical depth, and total far-infrared brightness profiles of the emission. Combining these quantities with available 12CO, 5 GHz radio continuum, and H I data, the authors then derive longitude profiles of the dust-to-gas mass ratio, the infrared luminosity per hydrogen mass, and the infrared excess ratio in the Galaxy.
