Granulomatous complications of oval window fat grafts

Abstract

Abstract In a series of 119 surgical cases of total stapedectomy utilizing adipose tissue, six cases of granulomatous complication occurred. In five of the six cases the hearing was impaired to below the preoperative level, and in four of the six cases the discrimination score was markedly impaired by the complication. A satisfactory explanation for this development has been noted in only two of the six cases.
