A simple electroluminescent-diode has been constructed from an organic material, anthracene. The diode is stable, emits light in the light blue spectral region, and shows rectification of up to 10 <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">5</sup> .
