A generalization of the formula for heat current that was given by Matsuda and Ishii is derived which is valid for a wider variety of systems than was the original one. The limits of its applicability are discussed. The expression is evaluated numerically for disordered chains of lengths up to 1000 atoms, with results that substantially support the IF-assumption of Matsuda and Ishii.
