Abstract The τ values for more than 150 substituents were calculated from group electronegativities obtained by revised method, being in agreement with those obtained from ionicity and bond moment, and were applied to σ-electron densities of XC6H4+, Cα-SCS of RCH2X, JHHtrans of vinyl compounds, and various σ values for electron-withdrawing substituents.
