Abstract

INTRALOBAR bronchopulmonary sequestration of the lung refers to the association of a congenital cyst of the lower lobe of a lung with an anomalous artery arising from the aorta either above or below the diaphragm. Many theories about the origin of sequestration have been advanced.1 2 3 4 The main etiologic factor is the anomalous artery. It is this artery that, when the condition has not been recognized, has led to serious operative mishaps and death.
