Abstract

Magnetic and transport properties of x = 0, 0.02, and x = 0.05 single crystals have been investigated in the range 3<T<300 K. A decrease of the number of magnetic phases of the Néel temperature TN as a function of x is observed. Elastic plus inelastic magnetic scattering of the carriers by spin fluctuations have been computed, and the electron phonon interaction satisfies the Grüneisen-Bloch law. A fairly good agreement between theory and experiments is observed in the whole range TN<T<300 K, precluding the hypothesis of any significant Kondo effect in this range of temperatures. However, Kondo effects may explain anomalies in the resistivity below 10 K in the x≠0 samples. The crystal field splittings are larger or equal to 50 K in the x≠0 samples compared with 28.5 K in CeSb. These variations of Δ and TN are discussed with respect to the models of the anisotropic exchange interactions in such materials.
