Abstract This paper describes an efficient adaptive integration technique for both internal cell integration and boundary element integration. The adaptive algorithm can cope with the common situation where the sizes of adjacent cells and boundary elements are significantly different. Various cases are examined numerically and some numerical applications demonstrate the effectiveness of this method.
