Abstract

This review describes a simple high-throughput method for producing laterally nanostructured monolayer and bilayer films on planar surfaces based on the Langmuir-Blodgett transfer of a phase-separated phospholipid mixture from the air/water interface to a solid support. Applications of the patterned lipid films to spatially direct the adsorption of proteins and to demonstrate stereoselective enzyme lithography are reviewed.
