Template-synthesized conductive polymer microwires and Au nanowires have been used as building blocks to self-assemble supramolecular architectures. In the conductive polymer case, biotin/streptavidin chemistry was used to self-assemble latex spheres onto the ends of the conductive polymer microwires. In the Au case, thiol chemistry was used to self-assemble colloidal Au nanoparticles onto the ends of the Au nanowires.
