Abstract Colloidal dispersions of polypyrrole were obtained by chemical synthesis in aqueous medium, using various transition metal compounds, as initiators and dopants, and various water‐soluble polymers as steric stabilizers. The dielectric constant and the complex conductivity of the particles were determined by measurements in microwave domain. The polypyrrole latexes have conductivities ranging from 0.3 to 3 S/cm depending upon the oxidizing agent and the stabilizer. The optimum system seems to be ferric chloride/methylcellulose.
