Stellar reaction rates for (p, y) on 12C, 29Si, 46Ti, 47Ti, and 56Fe have been obtained from thick- target measurements. These nuclei represent different combinations of resonant and continuum structure in the cross-sections, and each presents particular problems in analysis. The experimental and theoretical techniques are discussed, and a comparison is made to stellar rates derived from a statistical nuclear model. The capture reaction on 56Fe is discussed in some detail because of the presence of a strong nonstatistical state-an isobaric analog resonance-in the energy range of interest. Some discussion is included regarding differences between experimental and theoretical cross-sections. Subject heading: nuclear reactions
