Abstract

The novel compound trifluoromethyl hydroperoxide, CF3OOH, can be conveniently prepared by decomposition of the “perhydrate” of hexafluoroacetone, HOC(CF3)2OOH, which is produced by the 1:1 addition of hydrogen peroxide and hexafluoroacetone.
