Abstract

A generalized error-components model using quarterly time-series data from a cross-section of states is used to estimate US motor-gasoline demand. The results are then compared with earlier studies. Unlike the previous results, these show a static relationship expressed in current variable terms and an own-price elasticity that, while small, has significance. 11 references, 3 tables. (DCK)
