Apoptosis in premalignant and malignant squamous cell lesions of the oral cavity: A light microscopic study

Abstract

Apoptosis can be fairly accurately assessed using light microscopy. Tumors that exhibit less apoptosis tend to show aggressive behavior and have a greater potential for metastasis.
