Abstract

Abstract Studies have indicated that many Lesbian sexual relationships are quite stable, enduring over years, in distinction to those of male homosexuals. This study supports these findings. Lesbians apparently have long‐lasting affairs, and show a considerable degree of fidelity to their partners. With some exceptions, sexual partners tend to come from the same socio‐economic backgrounds, and participate in most activities together. There is a high degree of integration of Lesbians into their lovers' social circles, and these friendship groups also comprise individuals from similar social backgrounds. Most of these characteristics are in contrast to relationships among male homosexuals, who tend to have partners of different socio‐economic status, although their friendships are made with others of similar status.
