In field investigations virgin females were found capable of attracting exceptionally large numbers of males. One caged female attracted well over 11,000 males. The chemical properties of the attractant are under investigation. Such an attractant in a stable form, and in combination with insecticides, might aid in reducing populations of this arrhenotokous pest.
