Summary The petroleum industry uses Berea sandstone as a standard testing material. It is often fired to desensitize indigenous clays. Here, we study the effect of firing by comparing unfired Berea to samples fired at 1000°C for 5 hours. The observed changes in the petrographic and petrophysical parameters are then related to single- and two-phase coreflood data.
