Applications of Phase Transfer Catalysis, 15. Phase Transfer Catalytic Preparation of Carbonic Esters Without the Use of Phosgene Carbonic esters can be prepared in a phase‐transfer catalytic reaction from primary alkyl halides and a mixture of dry potassium hydrogen carbonate and dry potassium carbonate in non‐polar solvents. The conversion is ineffective inthe absence of hydrogen carbonate and catalyst.
