The electrical conductivity and absorption spectra of polythiophene irradiated with electron beams as high as 108 Rad do not change remarkably. However, they do change remarkably when irradiated in the presence of SF6 gas, which can be explained in terms of radiation induced doping into polythiophene. The application of this phenomenon as radiation detector or monitor is also proposed.
