Abstract

By means of examples the distribution of self-induced velocity along a curved vortex is investigated analytically as well as by means of an analog experiment of the magnetic field of a current-carrying cable. Results verify, at least for these examples, a theorem which was intuitively introduced by Hama in his study of detailed process of boundary-layer transition; the induced velocity on a curved vortex is largest in the region where the curvature is largest.
