Abstract

The 27th annual edition of this book consists of 20 articles published in 1993 and reprinted from the following journals:<i>Child Development, Developmental Psychology, Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Psychological Bulletin, American Psychologist, American Journal of Psychiatry</i>, and<i>Pediatrics</i>. The book includes the following chapters: "Developmental Issues"; "Gender Issues"; "Child Sexual Abuse: Psychological and Legal Issues"; "Developmental Disorders"; "Clinical Issues"; and "Special Issues," such as children as victims of war, understanding the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, and the pharmacological management of pain in children. Each of the 7 chapters of the book begins with a concise summary of the included articles, which is helpful for focusing on the most important aspects of a topic.
