Abstract

Abstract Practical device applications of planar electrooptical waveguides, usually require that the waveguides exhibit minimal insertion loss and impart no more than a quarter-wave total wavefront distortion. These characteristics are correlated with the processing chemistries of the in- and out- diffused (graded index) lithium niobate waveguides.
