Synopsis Seed size, coleoptile length, emergence, and seedling height varied widely in intermediate wheatgrass. High positive correlations were found among all characters. Variance for general combining ability was high. Analysis of a diallel cross indicated a strong maternal influence on coleoptile length. A discussion of the potential for improvement and methods for improving these characters is presented.
