The study examines 322 red dwarf stars using IR IJHK photometry to investigate chromospheric activity and metallicity effects in color–color diagrams. Metallicity variations are used to assess H⁻ continuum opacity and water‑vapor characteristics, classifying stars into five metal‑richness categories and revealing an inverse relationship between metallicity and water‑band absorption. The authors derive IR photometric parallax relations, absolute magnitudes, temperatures, intrinsic colors, and spectral types for each metallicity group, providing data to constrain interior and atmospheric models of low‑mass stars. The metallicity variations are employed to assess changes in the H(-) continuum opacity and water-vapor characterizations. The stars are classified in terms of metal-richness with five categories including young disk, old disk, and halo types with attention given to the inverse relationship between metallicity and water-band absorption strength. The results include IR photometric parallax relations for each metallicity group and absolute magnitudes for single stars as well as temperatures, intrinsic colors, and spectral types. The body of data is useful for constraining models of the interiors and atmospheres of this class of stars.
