Abstract

The results of this study suggest that there is crosstalk between nitric oxide and the cyclooxygenase enzyme with cyclooxygenase-1/cyclooxygenase-2 isoforms having an important role in this relationship. Augmented myeloperoxidase activity seems to be associated with NK(1) receptor activation and low levels of nitric oxide with cyclooxygenase-1 having an important role.
