Abstract

In children with pneumococcal meningitis, penicillin resistance was associated with a reduced risk of hearing loss, while cefotaxime resistance was associated with a longer duration of fever. Other outcome measures were not significantly influenced by the antibiotic susceptibility of pneumococcal isolates.
