Abstract Effects of metal oxide additions on the activity of Pd catalysts for CH4 combustion were examined in this study. Since a high concentration of oxygen on Pd surface can be attained, the addition of metal oxide is useful for enhancing the oxidation activity of Pd. In particular, NiO added Pd catalysts are highly active for CH4 combustion, and complete oxidation of CH4 can be attained below 823 K.
