The calculation of literal expansions

Abstract

. This paper describes a method of using the IBM 650 magnetic drum electronic calculator for making literal developments of functions in terms of given parameters. As examples we give series in powers of e obtained for Bessel functions, Jk(2'C), as well as for coefficients arising in expansions of selected functions in elliptic motion expressed as Fourier series in the mean anomaly.
