We have measured the magnetoresistance and de Haas-van Alphen (dHvA) effect in the ferromagnetic compound UGe 2 . It is found that UGe 2 is a compensated metal whose Fermi surface supports open orbits, along the b - and c -axes of the orthorhombic crystal structure. From the dHvA experiment, we have detected carriers with heavy cyclotron masses, ranging from 2.3 m 0 to 24.5 m 0 .
