Numerical Conformal Mapping of a Towel-Shaped Region onto a Rectangle

Abstract

If technical applications are involved, partial differential equations often have to be solved on a nearly rectangular domain (“towel”), one or more boundaries of which deviate from a straight line. A numerical method is presented for the mapping of such a region onto a rectangle. The calculation consists mainly in solving two coupled Laplace equations.
