The low-temperature magnetic susceptibility, 1–6°K, of the monoclinic and cubic, stoichiometric, and substoichiometric Gd2O3 phases are reported. The magnetic transformation temperatures have been determined and those of the substoichiometric phases probably give rise to the specific heat peaks observed in Gd metal containing appreciable amounts of oxygen.
