Lymphocytes were grown in culture to which plasma from normal individuals and patients with carcinoma was added; the per cent transformation of lymphocytes measured. Plasma from patients with carcinoma appears to be capable of inhibiting in vitro lymphocyte transformation. The author suggests that this may be one of the factors responsible for the anergy that occurs in these patients and may influence tumor growth.
