Abstract

Oxyphilic adenomas from the human thyroid were studied in this cytologic, electron microscopic, and biochemical investigation of 7 cases. The oxyphilic adenoma is considered to be a microfollicular adenoma in which a varying amount of follicular cells has changed into mitochondrion-rich cells and in which no biosynthesis of thyroxine or thyroglobulin seems to occur.
