The appearance of tocopherol in the blood of sheep after intramuscular injection of α‐tocopheryl acetate

Abstract

Abstract In contrast with published results for non‐ruminants, α‐tocopherol appears rapidly in the blood after intramuscular injection of sheep with dl‐α‐tocopheryl acetate. A maximum level more than 30 times higher than that prior to injection was reached 10 hours after the injection. Massive amounts given orally resulted in two‐ to four‐fold increases similar to those observed in the case of non‐ruminants.
