The tailored reaction media of water and an organic solvent for enzymatic synthesis have been of great interst during recent years. These two-or multiphase systems are suitable for less water soluble substrates by increasing the substrate and product concentrations. A frequent problem when using organic reaction media is that the enzyme is quickly denatured. The requirements for bioconvertion of hydrophobic substrates are fulfilled by using water/oil-microemulsions as the reaction media.
