Laser emission was obtained from a mixture of xenon with N2O pumped with radiation of a high-current discharge. The laser action was attributed to the XeO(1S)≈XeO(1D) transition at λ≈0.54 μ. The gain achieved was ~5×10–4 cm–1 and the specific output energy was ~10–5 J/cm3.
