Abstract

Specialists in nephrology, urology, pediatrics, pathology and radiology contribute to the preparation of this book and thus assure that each section is authoritative and current. More importantly, they clarify much confusion arising from the muddled nomenclature that has blocked our understanding of the relationships among renal cystic diseases. Renal cystic diseases are so significant as causes of end-stage kidney disease that their etiologies, resulting symptoms, and complications need to be better understood. The chapter on classification looks complicated but through listing the types by etiology and site, order is gained. The chapter on radiography illustrates the most modern technics and supplements them with photographs of the corresponding gross specimens. In addition, as part of the discussion of each cystic entity, the radiographic diagnostic features are described and well-illustrated.
