Abstract

Mirage effect results obtained with samples at high temperature are in disagreement at low frequencies with the photothermal theory which only takes into account conductive transfer in the surrounding gas. The radiative and convective transfers are analyzed. The calculated orders of magnitude show that, for our experimental conditions, the convective effects are predominant.
