Comparison of SSR calculations and test results

Abstract

A summary is given of presentations made at a panel session at the 1987 Winter and Summer Power Meeting of the IEEE Power Engineering Society. Topics of discussion include turbine-generator characteristics, the sharing of machine damping with multiple units on line, load modeling, measurement of system impedance, and comparison of tested and calculated damping. The discussions focused on comparisons of the calculated versus measured subsynchronous resonance (SSR) quantities. SSR case studies of two systems are presented with the overall calculated damping or undamping compared with system tests.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">&gt;</ETX>
