Abstract

The Landau theory of Fermi liquids is extended to include spin-orbit coupling. After constructing the general form of the quasiparticle interaction (which allows spin-orbit coupling), forward-scattering sum rules, static properties such as the sound velocity and magnetic susceptibility, and the stability conditions are derived. Some possible applications of this theory are considered.
