Structural Stabilization of New Compounds: MoS2 and WS2 Micro- and Nanotubes Alloyed with Gold and Silver

Inorganic nano- and microtubes intercalated with silver and gold are reported here for the first time. These alloyed phases of MoS2 and WS2 are stabilized by the tubular structure—remaining unknown in the bulk material. Analysis with TEM shows that the Au intercalated tubes (the Figure shows the termination of an Au–WS2 tube) show a concentric growth a with conical tip.
